Elegantly Different Retail Environment
Modern day Birmingham is a thriving retail centre and tourist destination, attracting increasing numbers of visitors to its shops, restaurants and other attractions.

Much of this has been the result of a far sighted programme designed to regenerate the City from the ‘concrete’ era of the 1960s and 1970s with splendid new buildings and infrastructure.

Amidst all this change, however, The Great Western Arcade offers something different, from the splendour of its Victorian architecture to its elegantly different retail environment.

Amongst the 42 retail units, you'll find a range of independent and upmarket speciality retailers as well as top high street names - a blend that you won't find repeated anywhere else in Birmingham.

Victorian Heritage
The Great Western Arcade is an important part of the City of Birmingham’s proud Victorian heritage. Built in 1876 to a design influenced by the Great Exhibition at London’s Crystal Palace in 1851, the Arcade spans a tunnel created for the railway line between Snow Hill and Moor Street stations.

Voted Birmingham’s favourite building in 1988, major restoration work in 1984 and further refurbishment in 1998 ensure that the Victorian Splendour of the Arcade is preserved.

The Great Western Arcade is located in the heart of Birmingham, between Snow Hill Station and the new Bullring. Linking the city’s commercial centre to the main retail area. It remains one of the city’s most popular retail destinations.
